Chef Chavhivan (Bou) Haanpaa, opened the King & I in 1981 and has been serving her creations to the Twin Cities for over 20 years. With a true passion for cooking and a commitment to exceeding her guests’ expectations, Chef Bou is rarely seen outside of her kitchen. Every night she offers a special curry, which has been simmered for hours to ensure that the tender meat is saturated with flavor. Be sure to ask your server about the curry before making your final decisions!

Thai cuisine finds its roots in the historical blending of Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai cultures. The popularity of Thai tastes has grown dramatically over the world because of the artful contrasts in the tastes of the sweet, sour, and hot dishes in a typical meal. Noted for using basil, mint, kaffir lime and lemon grass in combination with chiles, ginger, rich curries, coconut and vegetables, the Thai dining experience always surprises and delights.
